Summary

This project aims to understand the experiences of Black, African American women with uterine fibroids and develop culturally appropriate educational tactics to increase early awareness of symptoms and treatment options.

What they want

The project will utilize qualitative, community-based research to understand the experiences of women with symptomatic fibroids. Subsequently, tactics will be developed using behavioral and social science research (BSSR) methods to increase early awareness of fibroid signs and symptoms and knowledge of the range of treatment options. Teams from Mayo Clinic, the University of Florida, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center will collaborate to engage patients in their local areas and develop culturally appropriate education and dissemination materials.
