Effects of COVID-19 Related Medicaid Policy Changes in the Marshallese COFA Migrant Population

Summary

This research project aims to determine the effect of COVID-19 related Medicaid policy changes on healthcare access for Marshallese Compact of Free Association (COFA) migrants in Northwest Arkansas.

What they want

The study will leverage community-engaged relationships to collect primary data. Specific aims include: 1) Examining the Medicaid enrollment process and identifying barriers and facilitators to healthcare for newly eligible Marshallese through four focus groups with 50 participants. 2) Conducting a needs assessment via a survey of 750 Marshallese to assess barriers and facilitators to inform community-based interventions to improve Medicaid enrollment and use of primary and preventative healthcare services. The survey will incorporate themes from the focus groups and existing validated measures.
