Cardiometabolic Health and Epigenetic Aging Across the Life Course Among Hispanic/Latino Immigrant Groups in the United States

US · IL NIH grant open #nih-5F31HL172677-02

Summary

This research project aims to evaluate how immigration status contributes to disparities in cardiometabolic health and accelerated epigenetic aging across the life course among Hispanic/Latino populations in the United States.

What they want

The project involves three aims: 1) Using 2015-2021 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data to evaluate associations between immigration status and CVD risk factors/disease among Hispanic/Latino adults and adolescents in California. 2) Using Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) Youth data to estimate associations between parental immigration status, accelerated epigenetic aging, and objective cardiometabolic health measures among Hispanic/Latino adolescents. 3) Using a sub-sample of HCHS/SOL adult data to estimate longitudinal associations between immigration status, accelerated epigenetic aging, and objective cardiometabolic health measures over a 6-year period.
