Same-Day Antiretroviral Therapy as a Behavioral Design Intervention to Reduce Stigma in Key Affected Populations

US · IL NIH grant awarded #nih-3R01TW013180-01S1

Summary

This project proposes a behavioral design intervention using same-day antiretroviral therapy (SD-ART) protocols to reduce HIV-related stigma and improve treatment outcomes for men who have sex with men (MSM) in Peru.

What they want

The research will involve developing a tailored SD-ART protocol using asynchronous online focus groups and flowcharting, assessing multi-level barriers and facilitators to SD-ART from patient, clinician, and administrator perspectives using nominal group techniques, creating scripts for framing and nudging to refine the protocol, and pilot-testing the tailored SD-ART protocol with 125 newly diagnosed MSM. The pilot phase will include longitudinal dyadic analyses to measure changes in stigma, physician trust, social support, and psychological well-being.
Deliverables
  • Tailored SD-ART protocol utilizing choice architecture
