Barriers and Facilitators for Delivery of Guideline-Concordant Care for Adolescents and Young Adults with Ewing Sarcoma and Osteosarcoma

US · IL NIH grant awarded #nih-5K08CA288912-02

Summary

Research project to identify barriers and facilitators to guideline-concordant care for adolescents and young adults with Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma, develop an implementation blueprint, and pilot an intervention to improve care delivery.

What they want

The project aims to address disparities in cancer mortality among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with Ewing sarcoma (EWS) and osteosarcoma (OS) by increasing the delivery of guideline-concordant care (GCC). It will employ an implementation mapping process to develop strategies, identify barriers and facilitators to GCC delivery, and create an implementation blueprint. The project includes a pilot trial to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the blueprint. The researcher will expand skills in qualitative methods and implementation science, and gain experience in cancer care delivery pilot trials to obtain preliminary data for a future R01 proposal.
Deliverables
  • Identification of barriers and facilitators to delivery of guideline-concordant care for AYA patients with EWS and OS
  • Systematically developed tailored implementation blueprint for delivery of guideline-concordant care for AYA patients with EWS and OS
  • Evaluation of the feasibility and acceptability of a cancer care delivery implementation blueprint in a pilot trial
  • Preliminary data for an R01 proposal
