Georgian Implementation Science Fogarty Training Program (GIFT)

US · IL NIH grant awarded #nih-5D43TW012492-03

Summary

The Georgian Implementation Science Fogarty Training (GIFT) program aims to establish advanced training in biostatistics and implementation research methods for HIV prevention at Ilia State University in Georgia, in collaboration with Yale University.

What they want

The GIFT program will develop and institutionalize a training program focused on HIV prevention through advanced training in biostatistics and implementation research methods. This includes training 4 GIFT faculty in Year 1 and 6 doctoral students in Years 2 and 3 via a hybrid learning program. It will also transfer knowledge and build capacity through short-term training at a Summer Bootcamp for the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, and develop an HIV Implementation Science and Biostatistical Methods Resource Hub. Doctoral students will be paired with ISU and Yale mentors and gain real-world experience analyzing data from HIV implementation trials. The program involves a phased transfer of knowledge, skills, and expertise from Yale to ISU over five years, resulting in a model curriculum.
