What they want
The Center performs basic and applied research, uses participatory approaches, and conducts theory-driven education and translation activities. Research projects address reducing back pain from tractor use, assisting families of aging farmers with dementia, identifying and reducing high-risk hazards, reducing farm vehicle injuries on roadways, and improving respiratory health for livestock producers and animals. This involves developing innovative technologies such as whole-body vibration solutions, a safety checklist app, and air quality systems, and forming innovative partnerships. Research findings are translated into outreach materials, national educational curricula, disseminated through partners, and incorporated into multimedia discussions (social media, print media-Safety Watch, and FarmSafe podcasts). The Center also establishes and supports systems to foster communication, identify and build strategic partnerships, and assess the needs of the agricultural community.
