Summary
This project aims to develop, pilot, and refine an online, self-administered intervention (TEAM-LEADS) for stress reduction and cardiovascular health behavior promotion in young adults with juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis.
What they want
The overall research objective is to use a culturally sensitive intervention adaptation framework (Formative Method for Adapting Psychotherapy [FMAP]) to engage AYA-JSLE/JDM as partners in developing, piloting, and refining an online, self-administered intervention for stress reduction and CVH behavior promotion. Aim 1 involves partnering with AYA-JSLE/JDM patients, parents, and health care providers to co-design TEAM-LEADS. Aim 2 will determine feasibility, acceptability, adherence, and impact on stress and CVH behaviors of the initial TEAM-LEADS intervention in an open-label, single-arm successive cohort design pilot trial. Aim 3 focuses on refining the TEAM-LEADS intervention by addressing facilitators and barriers identified by pilot trial participants in exit interviews. The long-term goal is to develop interventions to improve mental and physical health outcomes in JSLE/JDM and other rheumatic diseases.
