The NIH seeks a senior-level Medicinal Chemistry Consultant to provide expert guidance and feedback on drug discovery and development projects related to the HEAL initiative, primarily through virtual meetings and email.
What they want
The medicinal chemistry Consultant will provide executive (senior scientific)-level Medicinal Chemistry expertise and contribute feedback and guidance on projects to the NIH and to Lead Development Team (LDT) members through video/tele conference and by email. Responsibilities include offering input on project milestones, target product profiles, and testing funnels; providing feedback on chemical structures and processes for SAR; evaluating SAR data weekly or biweekly; evaluating the tractability and IP space of chemical structures; advising, strategically planning, and managing medicinal chemistry programs (hit-to-lead, lead optimization, IND enabling, clinical studies); identifying drug discovery and development challenges and suggesting strategies; collaborating on design of investigative studies; reviewing Medicinal Chemistry sections of regulatory filings; and facilitating LDT discussions. The consultant may also accompany NIH staff on visits to CRO facilities to inspect facilities and prepare trip reports.
