US · FL University of Florida (UF) Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) grant awarded #nih-5P30AG028740-19

Summary

The University of Florida's Older Americans Independence Center operates a Clinical Research Core (RC1) to provide resources and expertise for conducting clinical and observational research focused on promoting mobility and independence in older adults.

What they want

The Clinical Research Core (RC1) provides resources and an intellectual environment to facilitate clinical research, team science, and education for OAIC REC Scholars related to promotion of mobility and independence. It aims to promote and facilitate the translation of pre-clinical and pilot studies into clinical trials in older persons. The core also seeks to improve understanding of behavioral, biological, cognitive, and social/environmental factors that may affect responses to interventions designed to promote mobility and independence in older adults. The RC1 supports the development and implementation of clinical trials, including pharmacologic, nutritional, and behavioral interventions, and observational studies addressing factors contributing to mobility impairment in older adults and implications for functional decline and disability. It collaborates with other OAIC cores to support pilot/exploratory projects, developmental projects, and external projects, providing senior-level investigators as mentors.
