Summary

The broader/commercial impact of this Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I project is to reduce the high volume of clothing returns in online shopping, a costly and inefficient outcome driven largely by poor fit. In 2024, about 43 percent of Americans shopped for apparel online, and nearly one in four items were returned—mostly due to size or fit issues.
